Search for a unicorn... [for the ladies]

Purse, that is.

Over the years I have had dozens, multiple of dozens of purses, each for a specific use. In retirement that hasn't changed but I have slimmed my collection down quite a bit (donated a lot of them, all in like new condition, to our local women's shelter). Most recently I realized the one purse I thought was perfect (and yes, I bought it in two colors, light brown/cedar and black) wasn't working with the new case I had bought for my iPad Mini 7. It worked, barely, without a case, but no more. My other daily purse worked but it was open, no zipper. Being a senior klutz, that wasn't working any more.

I love that this one is corduroy and has a carry strap as well as the crossbody so I bought it in two colors. Medium brown and dark green. Downside was it's open at the top.

I went on the search for a slightly smaller on that had the two handles and after several tries, came across this one. I fell in love with the two-color strap as well as my iPad Mini 7 fitting in. It was a tight fit and the pencil was always loose, but it worked. Again, I got it in two colors. This cedar brown and a black one.

All was good. Both styles sat on the arm of the loveseat, ready for use as per the size requirements. That was until hubby got a new iPad Pro 13". When I was looking for a case for that, I find the one for my Mini that hadn't been available when I bought it. (Yeah, first world problems, I know...) Now my Mini just wouldn't fit in the smaller purse.

So I went on the search for one that was approximately 8"x6" to fit the Mini. I wanted a burgundy reddish color (another story) so that limited things a bit. A hand strap would be nice but I could do without it if I had to (I did for years).

This was my first purchase. I loved the material (canvas), the color, the thin width, and the pockets. When it arrived I realized it was way bigger than the site specified (which was 9x2.6x7.1 inches). I measured it, 9"x12". Thinking it was just a larger version mistakenly shipped, I did a return/replacement. Nope, same thing. (I missed where it said it would fit an 11" tablet.)

This would be perfect for longer trips with my iPad Pro, but way bigger than I wanted for daily use. So the search was back on.

I put half a dozen purses in my cart and ordered this one first. It was listed as being 8.5 x 3.5 x 6 inches, a perfect fit for my Mini. No hand strap, not canvas, but a good size and decent color. Bonus is the RFID slots of my credit cards (which I may or may not use, I still prefer a wallet).

Well, it was a perfect fit, case and pencil included.

Will I order it in a more neutral color? I don't think so. I still have an over abundance of purses in my closet, at least two are black and another is dark gray. But I did learn something, read ALL the description and ask the Rufus AI about the dimensions and if it will fit whatever you need it to fit.

Once it was set up to use, I had to deal with storing my new car key for my 2025 Chevy Equinox. It's big and bulky but must be with me to open/start the car. With my love of wool (see this blog), I searched for a keychain with a little sheep on it and found this one. Great quality!!

It has a key ring and a large clip. I put my remote on the key ring and clipped it all to the side of my purse. Having double zippers, it's easy to just one one and zip it closed with the key inside, out of sight but easily accessible. If I need to drop it into my pocket, I just unclip it.

That said, I realized my deep orange leaf-shaped AirTag holder clashes - off to find a new one. How's this? Should go with any color purse, right?

Do you have a perfect, fits all occasions purse?

Ciao for now!

  1. I've been buying quite a few purses on Temu. I got so many compliments from them. Right now, I don't feel like carrying a person in my hand, so I'm back to my old trusty crossbody bag. Yeah, purses and shoes are my downfall.
